A bivy bag is a light, versatile shelter that is wind and waterproof. It keeps you, your sleeping bag and clothing dry and clean. Bivy bags also trap warmth and hold heat better than a tent. Use with a sleeping bag liner or light-weight sleeping bag in summer, or with a rated sleeping bag in winter. The drawstring opening can be tightened to cover your head completely.

Camping mats provide an element of cushioning and help to insulate against cold from the ground.
