Compact, light-in-weight and warm, the Radbag Snug is a backpack essential for multiday hikes, overnight adventures, adventure racing and travel.
Weighing in at 450g, this goose down sleeping bag is super light. At 2-metres in length, it will cover the shoulders - and heads - of most with ease - bend those knees.
This is a mummy-shaped bag that is 76cm wide at the shoulders and 60cm wide at the toes. Its rip-resistant bag is stitched to the foot of the sleeping bag so that you can't lose it.
In terms of a temperature rating, with the Radbag Snug closed over your head and sleeping on a foam pad to insulate your body from the cold ground, you should be comfortable throughout the night in the Radbag Snug in 10°C temperature. Some people sleep warmer - or colder - than others; you'll know your own body.
Elements that also determine the temperature at which you'll be comfortable throughout the night, especially when you need a good sleep for the whole night (unlike in Adventure Racing where sleep may only be two hours), are the following:
- camping under the stars, in a tent, or in a bivy bag: both tents and bivy bags shelter you from wind; the bivy bag traps the most heat.
- sleeping straight on the ground vs sleeping on a foam pad or self-inflating mat: insulation from the cold ground is vital - direct conduction of warmth from your body to the cold ground sucks more heat out of you than what you lose to the air.
- using a sleeping bag liner: it keeps your sleeping bag clean and adds a few degrees more of warmth.
- your sleepwear: sleeping in light-weight thermal leggings and a long-sleeve top with or without a beanie, socks and something around your neck can significantly improve your sleep experience in colder temperatures.
- the weather: hot or cold in windy, rainy, humid, or dry conditions, in a forest or exposed to the elements.
With a mat, bivy bag, liner and thermal sleep clothes, you'll have a comfortable sleep below 5°C.
